The Rhode Island Emergency Medical Services oversees EMT certifications. In addition to the regular EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate and EMT-Paramedic certification, they also offer another EMT training program. It is called the EMT-Cardiac. Those EMTs will be more specialized and therefore have a better chance of earning a better salary. But make sure to register fast for this specialization. It is open on a first come first served basis.

The State of Rhode Island uses the NREMT exam as many other State. They state that only 2 students out of 3 (67%) passed their exam on the first attempt.
