I like the Mississippi Emergency Medical Services line: “More than a ride to the Hospital”.  The Mississippi Bureau of Emergency Medical Services manages all EMT and Paramedic licensure. The average hourly wage for an EMT in Mississippi is $14.03 and could go as high as $20.67/hour for paramedics. This is a great state to start your career as an EMT and find a good job.

Mississippi stats:

Specific Mississippi EMT requirements:

The Mississippi EMS gives you the opportunity to become an EMT through various training programs. They include emergency medical dispatchers, Medical First Responders, Emergency Medical Technicians-Basic (EMT-B), EMT-Intermediates (EMT-I), EMT-Paramedics (EMT-P), nurses and physicians. They also provide EMS driver licensure in order to efficiently drive ambulances.

Mississippi EMT fees & other specification:

One thing I’ve found interesting about becoming a Paramedic in Mississippi is that the EMS organization is providing a Paramedic Self-Study section on their site. This allows students to advance in their study through getting their training online. Unfortunately, this section doesn’t include a practice exam section. This means that you can read everything that is there but you will still wonder if you can pass your exam successfully. To avoid unnecessary stress, we suggest you do a lot of practice with mock EMT exams. Those practice tests will help you focus and guide your study. You can buy approved EMT practice tests here.
