You want to become an EMT in Arizona and you want to know the EMT requirements? Noted for its desert climate, Arizona is the perfect state to start your EMT career. With large cities such as Phoenix and Tucson, there are definitely rooms for EMTs.

General EMT requirements:

  • Be over 18 of age
  • High School Diploma
  • Clean criminal record
  • Completed an EMT classes


Specific Arizona EMT requirements:

Applicants must successfully pass the National Registry written examination within three attempts with a score of at least 70% within one year of the official course ending date in addition to pass the NREMT exams.


Arizona EMT fees & other specification:

Arizona does not have reciprocal agreements with any other state for certification. This means that if you have your EMT certification from another State you must apply to the Arizona Department of Health Services to get your Arizona EMT license. There is a $150 fee to fill your EMT application.


The State of Arizona uses the EMT-Basic, EMT-Intermediate(99) and EMT-Paramedic classification. Please note that all EMTs must recertify every 2 years.
